BadgerCare and BadgerCare Plus

This is a program for Wisconsin families with dependent children.  To enroll, the family income needs to be at or below the monthly plan limit.  Children, however, can enroll regardless of their family's income. There is also a BadgerCare Core plan for low income adults with no dependent children.

The BadgerCare programs include:

  • Standard - For families with income below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level

  • Benchmark - This program is for families with income over 200% Federal Poverty Level.  To obtain more information on BadgerCare Plus for families with children please visit BadgerCare Plus for Children and Families

  • Prenatal Services - This program is for pregnant women who are not eligible for BadgerCare Plus due to immigrant status.  Please see the Department of Health Services publication BadgerCare+ Prenatal Services

  • BadgerCare Core - For adults, age 19 to 64, with no dependent children under age 19 living with them.  Must meet income guidelines and not have had private or employer health insurance now or in the last 12 months (some exceptions apply).  For more information see the Department of Health Services Core Plan.
