The Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) is responsible for assuring the safety, welfare and health of persons using health community care provider services in Wisconsin. They regulate various health care entities including those listed below.

Adult Family Home (AFH) -
One to four adults not related to the operator, residing in a private home or apartment and receiving care, treatment or services above the level of room and board. Must provide or arrange for no more than 7 hours of skilled nursing care per week.
Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) -
Five or more unrelated adults residing in a home or facility where care, supervision, treatment and services are provided. Must arrange or provide for no more than 3 hours of hands on nursing care per week.
Residential Care Apartment Complex (RCAC) -
Five or more adults residing in a complex with independent apartments that have a lockable entrance and exit. The apartment must include a kitchen, living area, bedroom and private bathroom. Must provide up to 28 hours per week of supportive, personal and nursing services.
Nursing Home -
A health care facility that provides around the clock care and services for people who need more than seven hours a week of nursing or personal care.
